Melbourne Convention Protest
by jonahstourguide inhi all.. i didn't want to post this in private because i want all to see what i saw.. the protest at the melbourne convention went superbly in my opinion.
the protesters and their banners were more than eloquent and succinct.
you could feel the emotion they all conveyed.

Hi JTG, I'm at the protest. Thanks for sharing this it is encouraging to see how we are seen by everyone who is not prepared to lie about the reality of what is happening at the protest.
If my fellow protesters were acting inappropriately I would not be here.
We are all lovely people with our own personal issues and characteristics, but on the whole there is more good in us than anything remotely bad.
I feel great about finally being part of something proactive within my capacity and comfort zone.
Love you all !!

I realize that this is kind of personal, but
by stillin inwhat does being a "spiritual person" mean to you?
the religion would have had us to believe that our place in the organization is definitive of that.
or how often we pray.

A brief summary of my trauma induced "spiritual" experience....
Several years ago I was admitted to the nuero high intensity ward suffering from autoimmune encephalopathy, while there, I had some intense and vivid hyper alert experiences with all my senses that I remember clearly today, as if it were a moment ago.
For the first day or so, everyone appeared to be talking and moving in slo-mo; I remember being amused by this. It was like my brain had levelled up and I was processing everything at light-speed, I was super aware and I was becoming overwhelmed with stimuli as I was absorbing everything - I could smell the peach jelly that was being brought up the lift from another level- hear someone typing on a keyboard out in the hall - nurses and doctors discussing a patient's pathology in a closed observaton room - and pain....omg...., I was given a needle injection daily of clexane that felt excruciatingly painful, but, (after I recovered) was that painless I asked the nurse if she had actually administered the dose.
At the same time I felt a strong emotional connection with the other patients in the ward, especially two who had suffered from stroke; I could understand them clearly while the medical staff and others struggled.
This was my personal extraordinary "spiritual" experience, that I have absolutely no evidence to show for.

The term "spirit" or "spiritual" comes from a latin word meaning "to breath".
Religion's, and especially watchtower's hijacking that word, makes me repulsed by the word "spiritual".
Being spiritual can come from an event or experience that changes the chemistry of the brain that gives a person a hightened awareness or consciousness.
This can be triggered by religious, traumatic, euphoric and drug induced experiences.
I'm off to work for now, but if you're interested I'll relate my own personal, trauma induced "spiritual" experience later on this afternoon.

False oath in Russia
by neat blue dog ini'll be the first to say that the russian government is pretty terrible and overreaching in its', power but that's not what this is about.
in a recent hearing, a witness for the jws said this under oath:.
one thing makes jehovah’s witnesses unique: they do not rely on strict rules or the authority of any particular leader, instead, they try to help adherents develop a bible-trained conscience so that each individual can personally and voluntarily make decisions guided by the bible.. i'm sorry but that is just not true.

In a written statement I could say I'm a "virgin".
When that is read out to an audience, no-one can see i don't have a capital V .
Or that I have punctuation marks around my virginity.
The reader may not even comprehend what it means to be a lower case virgin.
So the inference would be that I haven't had sexual intercourse.
And later if push comes to shove and someone notices that in fact I'm not a Virgin, I have plausible deniability---- I never said I was a Virgin, check out my lower case v.

neat blue dog,
These statements are typical of watchtower and Jehovah's witnesses.
They make cleverly worded ambiguous claims that infer a particular idea or clear expression, but ones they can later (with use of semantics) weasel out of.
For example: • they do not rely on strict (rules or authority) of any particular leader------ we have eight men who individually are not leaders but when they come together they form the fds.
• Geoffrey Jackson, in his reply to Angus Stewart at the ARC; "I (think) it would (seem) to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that God is using". ------but we'll say it anyway because we presume to be the only spokesperson that God is using.
• who is that "prophet" that god is using today?-------Jehovah's witnesses never said we are (Prophets) with a capital "P".
• 1975? Something, but We aren't saying.
Sometimes they get caught out with direct statements, but most times they won't commit and if you look closely at the twisted wording you'll find they have provided themselves with enough ambiguity to be able to wiggle (like the maggots they are) away from the statement and narrative they were responsible for inferring.

The reactive mind vs the thoughtful mind...
by RayoFlight2014 ina thought came to me as i was posting on another topic.
my reactionary mind, responding to watchtower's cruel and hostile treatment of genuine truthseekers who can no longer reconcile with watchtower's narrative was, " may the collapse begin".. but then my thoughts turned to how that would affect my parents and siblings who are blissfully oblivious with their collective heads in the sand.
all their hopes and future joy has been postponed for decades awaiting paradise while fighting off the black dog that is depression.

Unique JW Phrases 101
by Solzhenitsyn inwhat unique to jws phrases do you remember?
something fun for those of us taught to speak an entirely unique and pure language.
there have been posts in the past in this forum but perhaps some have new ones after having kept up with jehovah's chariot as the light gets brighter.

Hi Theonlyoneleft,
I hear ya.
My concern is that they will be rudely awakened by some event that is unmistakable and crudely rips the rug out from under them.
I'd like to be able to prepare them for that or at least have a readymade safety net to catch them as they fall.
I just have this uneasy feeling that the choice to remain oblivious may not be an option.

The Watchtower stole from me and you too
by rickroll inthink of how much time and money the tower stole from any who were in the cult.
think of the vacations as a child you could have taken with your families the memories you could have made instead of sitting in a hot bs week of echo talks and propaganda.
they stole so much from us.

Yes, that parasite cult consumed my neurons and stole away my ability to take education seriously.
But I'm done eating shit pie.
I enjoy being free from undue influence and coercion; I am free to choose whatever pie I desire, or I can choose to not have pie.
Maybe I'll go a healthy option?
Or not...
Num Num Num.
